Fashion folks have seen plenty of bizarre trends coming off the runways, but the latest from Vietnam's Nguyen Cong Tri at the recent Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Tokyo, is raising more than a few eyebrows.

Nguyen's show is part of the Asian Fashion meets Tokyo spotlight and the young designer represented his country with a dramatic haute couture collection called "LÚA."

Known for couture-liked craftsmanship married with traditional Vietnamese motifs and techniques, Nguyen's show did not disappoint in terms of opulence and eclecticism thanks to a flourish of textures like feathers, velour and intricate embroidery.

However, when Nguyen started sending some of his models out wearing knitted ski caps, which covered most of their faces, we couldn't help but wonder what the designer was thinking.

Sure, fashion is about making a bold statement and turning heads, but few will appreciate head gear that could double up as a robber's mask or some BDSM prop gone wrong.

Nguyen might have succeeded in getting our attention in a sea of designers vying for press coverage during Fashion Week. But in this case, he probably would have benefited from just letting his clothes do the talking.
