L.A. Clippers add Bumble logo to NBA uniforms
Bumble is swiping right on the L.A. Clippers.
The National Basketball Association team, owned by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, has signed a multi-year deal with the dating app that includes having Bumble's logo in the corner of Clippers' uniforms. The team also has committed to community initiatives that will help support young women, the organizations announced Tuesday.
Company logos on NBA uniforms, a.k.a. jersey sponsorships, isn't brand new. But partnering with a dating app is quite intriguing. Bumble's deal was an alignment in brand values, according to the companies' announcement. Bumble is known as the women-first dating app while the Clippers is led by the largest female leadership team of the NBA, including the league's only female president.
"Through Steve Ballmer's leadership, the Clippers have a clear commitment to diversity and equal opportunity."
“Through Steve Ballmer’s leadership, the Clippers have a clear commitment to diversity and equal opportunity,” Clippers President Gillian Zucker said in a statement. “From our players on the court to our leadership team, we are proud to stand with Bumble and do our part to emphasize that diversity and gender equality in the workplace is essential to organizational excellence."
The terms of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the news, Bumble emphasized a commitment to more investment in companies with similar values. That includes having a strong representation of female leadership.
“It’s an honor to partner with an organization as progressive and compassionate as the Clippers. Like us, they know generating awareness for diversity and gender equality is critical to business success," Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd said in a statement.
The announcement comes just a day after Bumble took a firm anti-gun stance by not allowing guns in profile photos, unless users are in the military or law enforcement and shown in uniform.
As Ballmer has shown, the partnership is a sure thing:
