La La Land tap danced its way into Golden Globes history.

The love letter to Hollywood swept all seven nominated categories at the Hollywood Foreign Press' awards this year, taking home the trophy for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and winning the most Golden Globes for a single movie ever.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1976) and Midnight Express (1979) previously head the record with six wins each.

Producers Fred Berger and Marc Platt accepted the award on behalf of dreamers everywhere.

"Thank you to Damien for reminding us of the magic and the power of cinema," said producer Platt. "To make us feel not through cynicism or irony, but with unbridled joy and passion, to dream more urgently, to live more fervently and to love more deeply."

La La Land was was up against 20th Century Women, Deadpool, Florence Foster Jenkins, Sing Street.

Earlier in the evening, Chazelle picked up the Best Director and Best Screenwriter in the Musical or Comedy category -- the two spots where La La Land looked vulnerable. With those two awards secured, it was clear that La La would sashay its way into history.

The music at the heart of the film also came out on top early -- Justin Hurwitz won awards for Best Score award and Original Song thanks to the melancholy "City of Stars." And, of course, the film's endlessly charismatic leads, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, dazzled their way to wins.

And now, they dance.
