Lady Gaga announces new single coming in September

It's another pop music emergency!

Lady Gaga will release "Perfect Illusion," the first single off her forthcoming fifth solo LP in September, the singer shared with fans via Instagram Wednesday morning.

This news has been a long time in the making. Lady Gaga's last solo album was 2013's polarizing Artpop, which disappointed many.

After that, Gaga re-focused attention on her killer pipes, releasing the standards album Cheek to Cheek with Tony Bennett in 2014, as well as her recent Oscar-nominated tune, "Til It Happens To You." She also had memorable performances at the Oscars, Grammys and the 2016 Super Bowl.

While Gaga has been pretty secretive about the new album, it is known that she worked with Mark Ronson and frequent early collaborator RedOne. (Read: more tracks like "Bad Romance" and "Poker Face" should be forthcoming.)

"All I know is that we did eight great songs so far, and I think we have incredible songs," the producer-songwriter told People in July about re-teaming with the singer.

While not working on new music, the singer has kept herself busy with a Golden Globe-winning role on the most recent season of American Horror Story.

Earlier this week it was announced that Gaga will star in the Bradley Cooper-directed remake of A Star is Born, although an exact timeline for that project has not yet been shared.
