Lady Gaga posts touching statement on Taylor Kinney breakup

News of the split between Lady Gaga and actor Taylor Kinney came in this week, and thanks to Gaga's most recent Instagram, we can all find comfort in knowing it was not a bad romance.

Gaga penned a touching note, confirming their split, but adding that the two still hope to work through relationship obstacles.

"Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates," she wrote. "Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break."

"We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared."

The two had been together on and off for five years after meeting on the set of Gaga's "You and I" music video.

"Please root us on," Gaga said. "We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
