LOS ANGELES -- Lana Meisner, the wife of former Eagles co-founding bassist and vocalist Randy Meisner, accidentally shot and killed herself at their home in Studio City, police and coroners officials said Monday.

At around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a radio call from a woman who asked for assistance for a "possibly intoxicated male subject." According to TMZ, Lana Meisner told police he was "waving a BB gun and acting erratically." LAPD says officers took a domestic violence incident report and left.

Later, around 7 p.m., officers responded to another call, this time for a shooting at the residence. When they arrived they found Lana Meisner with a single gunshot wound. By the time the Fire Department arrived, she was pronounced dead.

Her death was ruled accidental after an investigation by detectives and the Los Angeles Coroner's Office. They determined that she was moving a rifle that was stored in a closet.

Police said Randy Meisner was cooperative throughout the investigation.

Randy Meisner was a member of the Eagles from 1971 to 1977. He was the band's founding bassist and high-harmony singer, and took the lead vocal on the band's hit "Take it to the Limit," which he co-wrote.

He and Lana Meisner were married in 1996. Last summer, a court put him under 24-hour supervision after he allegedly threatened murder-suicide with an AK-47 and pills after he was diagnosed as bipolar.
