Laura Dern and BB-8 from Star Wars have become BFFs and we're not worthy

It's probably the most adorable thing ever.

We all agree that Laura Dern is a national treasure that should be protected at all costs.

But what happens when the legendary actress in our universe meets a legendary (and incredibly cute) creature from the Star Wars universe -- the spherical, rolling droid BB-8?

Well, watch it yourself. It might be the purest, most adorable thing you'll see today.

Dern -- kneeling, with a soft-spoken voice -- scratches BB-8's belly as it emits sounds of approval and satisfaction.

"Do you like that? How cute! You're so cute! You're the best," Dern says in the sweetest way possible.

Then she proceeds to ask, almost whispering, about the cuteness competition with the porgs, you know those puffin-like creatures that will feature in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

"Are you upset by all this porg focus? They're adorable but you're my guy, BB-8," she says, and our hearts are melting at once.

"I love you BB-8."

People were really moved by the friendship between Dern and the droid:

Some loved how gracefully and tactfully Dern asked about BB-8/porg row:

Others believed this was proof Dern is from another planet:

And naturally someone made a Twin Peaks reference:
