Celebrate Feb. 29 with candy, tears and Leap Day William
Rejoice, 30 Rock fans and lovers of the year of leap: Today, after four rotations around the sun, Leap Day William emerges from his ocean trench home to trade children's tears for candy and remind us all to seize the day.

Leap Day William has been with us all since the beginning of time, but made his 30 Rock debut in Season 6, episode 8 (which aired in 2012). Leap Day is a time for taking chances, wearing blue and gold, and crying for sweets.
And of course, it's a day to marathon the classic Jim Carrey film Leap Day Williams, the story of uptight lawyer Dave Williams' transformation into the real Leap Day William after "an ice-fishing trip gone awry."
According to 30 Rock co-creator Robert Carlock, ""When the world changed, some of the old gods, the Vikings and the Romans and the Assyrians, some of them hid. A bubbly god of chaos has taken on the form of Leap Day William."
So go forth, dear readers, and embrace this magical day! And remember: If you see people not wearing the appropriate colors, you are allowed and encouraged to poke their eyes and pull their hair.
