Last year, basketball star LeBron James introduced GMC's revived (and electrified) Hummer at Super Bowl 2020, and now he's back for the supertruck's electric SUV debut.

True to GMC's promise, the Hummer EV SUV was revealed in full for the first time Saturday during the NCAA Final Four basketball game. In an ad narrated by LeBron James, the five-seater SUV was shown lifting itself up in Extract mode to pass obstacles and doing the CrabWalk maneuver GMC first demoed last fall.

The new electric SUV won't have a truck bed like the Hummer EV, but it'll still offer drivers a large cargo space in the back.

Production for the all-electric Hummer SUV is slated to begin in early 2023. Two "Edition 1" packages will be made available that have three motors each, up to 300 miles of battery range, and go from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds. There's also an "extreme off-road" model that comes with extra underbody armor and cameras to see under the car. That off-roading option will cost $110,595 (and dings 20 miles of range off), while the non-rugged version will go for $105,595.

After the Edition 1 cars are released, three other versions will follow:

  • The EV 2 SUV in spring 2024 with two motors and a 250-mile range for $79,995

  • The Hummer EV 2X SUV in spring 2023 with two motors and a 300-mile range for $89,995

  • The Hummer EV 3X SUV in spring 2023 with three motors and a 300-mile range for $99,995

Both the 3X and 2X models will offer drivers the option to add off-roading features.

No matter the Hummer EV SUV, all variations will ship with the latest version of Super Cruise installed. That hands-free driver assistance system is currently available to use on over 200,000 miles of highways throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Reservations for the electric Hummer SUV are now open online.
