Updated June 7 with Witherspoon's confirmation.

Break out your dogs and perfect highlights: Deadline reported Monday that plans are in motion for a Legally Blonde 3 starring Reese Witherspoon and bringing back as many of the original cast and crew as possible.

Legally Blonde first released in 2001, with a sequel (Red, White, and Blonde) in 2003. Since planning for the threequel is in such early stages, Mashable decided to outsource the idea from MGM Studios to...us.

Below, we brainstorm some story ideas for Legally Blonde 3.

Angie Han, Deputy Entertainment Editor:

I don’t know what Legally Blonde 3 should be about, but I know what it definitely should not be about: Elle running for president. It’d just be too depressing, given [gestures at our entire reality].

Alexis Nedd, Senior Entertainment Reporter:

Legally Blonde 3 needs to account for the fact that while Elle is a wonderful character, it also represents a very idealized notion of white femininity that was revolutionary at the time but needs an update. Elle Woods is a lawyer in her 40s by now, and I think she should really go all the way on creating an all-female law office that uses the money they make from getting women lucrative divorce settlements to represent immigrants and refugees pro bono. Maybe shuffle around some policy re: separating mothers from children at the border. I feel like Elle Woods, who's probably a mom by now, would be into that.

Additionally:

Legally Blonde 3 should have more than one WOC who speaks and isn't doing nails.

Adam Rosenberg, Senior Entertainment Reporter and Weekend Editor

I've never seen all of Legally Blonde, but I have seen the bend and snap scene. So I assume Legally Blonde 3 will be about the bend and snap shaking the nation.

Writer's Note: Adam is going to deal with this egregious oversight ASAP.

Jess Joho, Entertainment Reporter:

I just want a 2 hour break up montage.

Kellen Beck, Entertainment Reporter, has not seen Legally Blonde, so he heavily overcompensated:

Erin Strecker, Entertainment Editor and Resident Reese Witherspoon Expert:

Please recall that the end of Legally Blonde 2 ends with Elle driving by the White House and winking. I agree with my colleague Angie Han that Elle should NOT run for President. Instead, Elle takes her congressional aid experience and travels the country encouraging women to run for Congress. The bend and snap whiz will have no trouble coming up with catchy slogans for all. Cue an ending montage to “Perfect Day” of women winning elections all over the country! I’ll definitely cry!

Emmett will show up for one scene to declare his love for Elle, and then get the fuck out for the rest of the film. It's not about him!!!
