FX's delightfully trippy X-Men series Legion has cast Wonder Woman star Saïd Taghmaoui as one of the villains for Season 2, showrunner Noah Hawley announced at San Diego Comic-Con.

Taghmaoui will play Amahl Farouk, aka the Shadow King. As viewers learned in Season 1, the Shadow King is embodied by Aubrey Plaza (when he isn't appearing as a creepy, globulous, pale dude with yellow eyes), who possessed Jermaine Clement's Oliver Bird after being expelled from David Haller's (Dan Stevens) subconscious in the finale.

In Season 2, Taghmaoui "will join us and add to the trio that is Aubrey and Jermaine," Hawley said, hinting that all three will somehow contribute to the performance of the villainous character in one way or another. In Wonder Woman, Taghmaoui played Sameer, a member of Steve Trevor's team tasked with getting Diana to the Western Front.

In a mic drop moment, Noah Hawley also revealed that he's developing a film centered around Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom for Fox, but didn't share any further details.

Fans were also eager to learn whether David's father, Professor Charles Xavier, would make an appearance on the show, given that the character was finally teased towards the end of Season 1.

"We're working on it," Hawley promised, joking that the decision was in the hands of Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb, who was also on the panel. He noted that star Stevens was recently on a talk show with Professor X himself, Patrick Stewart, and discussed a Legion cameo with him.

"He seemed very into the idea, Jeph," Stevens quipped.

Whether Professor X would be portrayed in his older iteration, by Stewart, or his younger self, by James McAvoy, is still up for debate, said Hawley.

"I don't know yet what that would be -- on some level it depends on who would do it and when we reach that part of the story, is it funnier if it's the old one or the young one? I don't know yet," Hawley admitted, telling Stevens, "It'd be great if you were older than your dad."

Hawley also hinted that he plans to experiment with different storytelling perspectives to focus on some of the show's other characters in Season 2 -- including the Shadow King -- as well as exploring their backstories via flashbacks. "We'll get our money's worth out of every character on this show," he promised. "I have a slight character issue; I like a lot of them and I do believe that the more you shift point-of-view, the more empathy you build, even for characters you think are villains."

Season 2 will also explore David's relationship with Syd (Rachel Keller) in a deeper way. "At its core this is an epic love story about a couple who literally physically can't be together," Hawley said. "If Season 1 was the honeymoon, Season 2 is trying to figure out how does this actually work?"
