Lego builds 'world's largest' Millennium Falcon for Star Wars Day in Malaysia
In time for Star Wars Day, Lego on Wednesday unveiled a massive Millennium Falcon that it claims is the largest in the world, at its Legoland Malaysia theme park.
It got its father-and-son professional lego builder team of Dan and Christopher Steininger to construct the 4.8-by-3.6 metre model with 250,000 bricks, across 50 hours over the weekend.

The two had built a smaller model of the legendary Corellian YT-1300 -- better known as the Millennium Falcon flown by Han Solo and Chewbacca -- last year in Melbourne.
There are only 40 professionals in the world bestowed with the "Master Builder" title by Lego.
The son, Christopher Steininger, tells Mashable the process of building a large Lego structure starts with a 3D model mocked up in Autodesk Maya that gets processed by Lego's Brick Builder program so the builders have a plan of how many and what type of plastic bricks to use.
Dan Steininger said the base is built first before the public gets a chance to see the rest of the construction. "If you make mistake at the bottom, it will come back to haunt you when you get to the higher parts of the model," he said.
He said the most challenging model that the duo have worked on was a 5-metre-tall, 3 metre-wide Lego apple. "To give you an idea of how large it is, we had to make use of a cherry picker in order to build the top half of it," he said.
The apple took four Master Builders three days to build, and 750,000 bricks went into it.
