The race to build a smartphone that has an uninterrupted, edge-to-edge screen may soon be ending.

Lenovo has confirmed a June 5 launch event for its next handheld, the Z5, which is rumored to be the first all-display smartphone. The technology giant shared invites and a look at the back of the phone on Weibo.

Chances are this device is not destined for the U.S., or larger Western hemisphere, as the event is taking place in Shanghai. It comes a full week before Vivo's June 12th event where they will be showing a final version of the concept Apex Full View.

Vivo's all-screen smartphone is rumored to have a pop-up selfie camera and a fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen. Lenovo has previously teased that the Z5 has a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio and "four technological breakthroughs."

The breakthroughs most likely have to do with the camera and sensor placement, given that the phone is expected to have a bezel-less design. Without the traditional border around the phone's screen, the company will have to hide these components in other areas of the device.

Whether the Lenovo Z5 is truly the first smartphone without bezels remains to be seen, but luckily for mobile fans, we won't have to wait much longer. The official launch event is only five days away, and then, we may finally get the all-screen phone we've all been dreaming of.
