In the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, members of the LGBT community are speaking out on social media.

The shooting took place early Sunday at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, resulting in at least 50 deaths and 53 injuries. The alleged gunman was shot and killed by police.

The shooting comes as people across the country were celebrating LGBT Pride Month. Prominent members of the LGBT community took to Twitter to share their feelings.

LGBT organizations also shared statements via social media.

In Los Angeles, where the LA Pride Parade is taking place on Sunday, the mood was somber.

Some people shared anger over the fact that many gay men can't donate blood in the U.S., thanks to a recommendation from the Food and Drug Administration that gay men be turned away from blood banks if they have had sex within the past year.

Social media was filled with reports of people in Orlando lining up to donate blood.

Ultimately, many members of the LGBT community urged people to rally around Pride events as a sign of resiliency and hope.
