Better late than never.

The Auckland Public Library in New Zealand shared a photo on Wednesday of a book that was finally returned, 67 years after its due date.

The book, Myths and Legends of Maoriland by author A.W Reed was supposed to be returned to the Epsom Library on December 17, 1948.

However, the library says that the woman, who was just a kid when she borrowed the book, moved out of Auckland and accidentally took the it with her. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The book was actually in good condition, so the library decided to waive the late fees.

"We were just stoked to have the book back and hear such a cool story," the library wrote on Facebook

Now according to the slip on the book, the late fee should have cost "three-pence for the first week...and one-penny per day after."

The book was 24,604 days overdue, which is about a 102.50 pound fine (there were 240 pennies in one pound, but New Zealand switched to the dollar in 1967.)

According to Yahoo, if you calculate the inflation, the fine would actually be about $7,300 NZD, or $5,079 USD.

It appears as if the woman returning the book has already sparked others' guilty conscious.
