Many people have spoken up against producer Harvey Weinstein, the majority of those voices have been from women in Hollywood.

Like many publications, The Guardian wrote about how many men have been silent during this ordeal—naming dozens of actors who are professionally affiliated with Weinstein. They reached out to and heard nothing from many of them, including Lin-Manuel Miranda,

In an attempt to hold Miranda accountable, a fan asked him to explain his lack of response on Twitter.

"I’d asked my reps to keep any press non-Puerto Rico relief-related off my desk. That’s my fault," Miranda explained, asking for forgiveness, and saying he had just woken up to The Guardian's piece. The Weinstein Company announced in 2016 that it would be developing Miranda's In The Heights into a film.

"I'm as appalled and repulsed by the Weinstein news as anyone with a beating heart," he wrote. "And forever in awe of the bravery of those who spoke out."

Many appreciated his statement, while others defended the actor after he was called out for his lack of immediate statements.

George Clooney, Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Kimmel, Jeff Bridges and Seth Rogen are among those who have joined Miranda in condemning Weinstein's sexual harassment.
