Unsending your texts is finally coming to Line, one of Asia's top messenger apps
TOKYO, JAPAN - JULY 11: The Line Corp. logo is displayed on a smartphone in this arranged photograph on July 11, 2016 in Tokyo, Japan. Japanese messaging app provider LINE Corp., owned by South Korean portal Naver Corp., announced it has set the price of its initial public offering at 35 million shares at 3,300 yen apiece on Monday. The company expects to list on the New York Stock Exchange on July 14 and also on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on July 15. (Photo by Tomohiro Ohsumi/Getty Images) Credit: Getty Images

Finally, you can unsend that embarrassing text on Line messenger.

The app, which is hugely popular in Japan and Thailand, will start allowing users to retract messages that they've sent to friends, reports SoraNews24.

The feature will be available in about two weeks' time, in December, and comes about a month after competitor, WhatsApp, announced a similar feature.

The only catch is, if you don't delete your message within 24 hours, it stays in the chat. So you should check your texts after a big night out, before it's too late.

Line, which has about 220 million monthly active users, announced the new unsend feature on Thursday, with a marketing campaign timed to coincide with Black Friday -- although its message is entirely unrelated to the shopping event.

Line's promotion encourages people to submit embarrassing stories of messages they wish they didn't send, and will reward the best (or worst?) stories with in-app currency and gift codes.

The in-app currency can be used for Line's very popular stickers, for instance. So if you win a prize for an awkward story, maybe you can use some of that Line currency to get a new sticker pack that'll convey your regret more eloquently than words can.
