With all the depressing stuff out there, it's nice to have some good news.

Police in Rome, Italy, received a call late last Wednesday about crying and shouting coming from a neighbor's flat. Checking it out, they found themselves at the door of 84-year-old Jole and 94-year-old Michele, who'd been married for nearly 70 years.

While there had indeed been crying, there was no actual dispute. According to a Facebook post by the Roman police headquarters (the Questera di Roma), Jole and Michele had simply been watching the news.

Between the constant media cycle of terrorist attacks, child abuse and the like, Jole ended up having a emotional breakdown loud enough for the cops to respond. It turns out the couple was deeply lonely, and had only the news for company.

So instead of just waiting for Jole to calm down and leaving them with the morbid info stream on their TV, the police stuck around. They asked for permission to open the pantry. And they made pasta.

Anyone fluent in Italian can read the full post, but the pictures speak well enough for themselves. All in all, things ended well that evening.
