Lorde surprises lucky NYC cashier with free concert tickets

From blueberry smoothies to festival guest lists.

A simple smoothie run turned out to be an encounter of a lifetime for Lorde and a fan.

The New Zealand artist is preparing for her headlining set at Governor's Ball in New York City, and stopped by a Liquiteria for some fuel on Tuesday. While at the juice shop, she was recognized by the cashier who happened to know exactly who she was serving.

"This is my first smoothie for a famous person. She got a Blue Velvet, I am shook," Twitter user and Liquiteria employee @ThatEmely exclaimed in a video, before flipping the camera to show an excited Lorde. The video was shared on Twitter and quickly went viral.

Not long after, @ThatEmely received the message of a lifetime.

"Come to governors ball on me," Lorde messaged her. "I was gonna ask u in the store if u wanted to come but I got shy! To celebrate your new job," she wrote.

@ThatEmely tweeted screenshots of their conversation, adding "woke up trying to figure out if last night was a dream or real life..."

Safe to say it might just be both.
