Star-crossed Redditors reunite a lost Nintendo Switch with its owner

Turns out, Reddit makes for a pretty good lost and found.

On Thursday night, a Reddit user posted on the Nintendo Switch subreddit, saying that they found a Nintendo Switch and contacted Nintendo on what to do next, asking fellow redditors what other measures could be taken.

An hour and 15 minutes later, a Reddit user posted on the Nintendo Switch subreddit, saying that they left their Nintendo Switch on a bus at the Frankfurt International Airport in Germany.

It turns out the the two people were talking about the same Switch.

The person who lost their Switch, Pizzaboxmonster, was hoping to reach the driver of the bus with the title of their post: "I lost my Switch at Frankfurt International Airport (Germany)! Please if you’re the driver of the bus, I’ll be eternally grateful and bring you chocolates."

In their post, Pizzaboxmonster acknowledged that connecting with whoever found their console was a longshot.

"I’ve seen several posts about people losing their Switch so I thought I’d give it a try," they wrote. "I know this has 0.000001% possibility to work, but here I go."

The Nintendo Switch subreddit has just under 400,000 subscribers, so the chances of actually reaching the person that found it were extremely low. Lucky for Pizzaboxmonster, the person who found it handed it over to their techy, Switch-owning friend to take care of.

That friend goes by Itchybun on Reddit, who made the wise decision to contact Nintendo and hang onto the Switch instead of handing it over to the airport's lost and found, where it may have never reached its owner.

Itchybun said they reached out to Nintendo, who contacted the owner. Meanwhile, another Reddit user commented on Pizzaboxmonster's post and directed them to Itchybun's post. The two started talking.

"I’ve been in contact with Itchybun and as amazing as it can be, it seems I’ve found my Switch," Pizzaboxmonster wrote in an update. "I want to thank all of you for your comments. I can’t believe this is happening and... I’m still quite shocked, but sometimes good things can happen :)"

"Today I love this community even more and especially that great user and person who decided that finding the owner would be more fun than just keeping it," they added.

Itchybun was also amazed at how well this saga worked out, considering the Switch doesn't have any direct messaging capabilities to contact the owner's friends.

"Being a Switch owner myself didn't really help (was hoping for direct messaging), but I tried my luck here and it actually worked out!" they wrote in an update. "It's surreal to see Reddit magic at work, and be part of it for once. Really grateful for all the positivity."
