If you've seen a particularly affectionate golden retriever walking around New York City, it was probably this dog.

Louboutina, 5, turns heads when her human walks her. She happily stops to pass out hugs and hand-holds, brightening up the streets of New York.

Louboutina's human is Cesar Fernandez-Chavez, the language and interpreter services manager at Mount Sinai Beth Israel.

"Louboutina started holding hands in February 2014 for the first time, a bit before Valentine's day," Fernandez-Chavez told Mashable. "As a single gay man I thought to myself, 'at least I have someone to hold hands with,' and I let her stop me on every walk to hold hands (or paw in her case)."

Her affection has only progressed. According to Fernandez-Chavez, "About a year after she started hugging me ... she started doing a funny stand on her legs with her upper paws to the side."

If you're wondering about Louboutina's unique name, Fernandez-Chavez can explain.

"Louboutina came to me when she was 3 months old and she was my birthday gift from my best friend Daphne," he wrote to Mashable.

"When I met Daphne the first time she was wearing Louboutins therefore when she told me she was giving me a pup for my birthday I said 'I want a female dog and I'm going to name her Louboutina after your shoes.'"

Fernandez-Chavez started documenting Louboutina in February 2014 after running into Gerard Butler. The actor saw the two holding hands and asked if he could take a photo. After the shot of Butler and Louboutina garnered some clout on Facebook, Fernandez-Chavez started an Instagram account for her.

A lot of the photos on Louboutina's Instagram are reposts from people who ran into the dog on the street and couldn't resist taking a photo. Fernandez-Chavez told Mashable that most people who see Louboutina on the street react joyfully.

Not only does Louboutina bring happiness to people on the streets of Manhattan, but the selfless pup has undergone training to become a therapy dog.

An unexpected perk of dog-owning? "I never thought about it, but due to Louboutina and her page I have met a couple of cute guys, very organic, on the street like in the old days," Fernandez-Chavez told Mashable.

Sorry, I have to cut this article off here. I'm going to wander around 5th Avenue and try to find Louboutina.
