Apple's MacBook Pro launch in October inspired more criticism than any Mac event in recent history. The new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros, while thinner and more powerful than ever before and equipped with the brand new Touch Bar, are significantly more expensive than the older models. They also don't come with a 32GB option. And all connectors have been replaced with USB-C ports, plunging users into dongle hell, which Apple quickly tried to remedy by reducing the prices of its dongles and accessories.

Despite all that, it appears that the new MacBook Pro is selling very well, and has already outsold all of its Windows-based competitors by a large margin.

According to a new report by Slice Intelligence, via Cnet, the sales of the new MacBook Pro in the first five days surpassed the sales of key competitors such as Microsoft's Surface Book, Dell XPS 13 and 15, Lenovo Yoga and Asus Chromebook Flip even though all these devices have been on the market for over a year.

The MacBook Pro sales have also approached the sales of Apple's own MacBook, which has been available since April 2015.

This is in line with a recent statement by Apple's Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller, who told Independent that Apple's "online store has had more orders for the new MacBook Pro than any other pro notebook before."

Slice gathers its data by looking at "hundreds of millions" of e-receipts from more than 4.4 million online shoppers. This latest report focuses on sales and not units sold, which might skew numbers in Apple's favor because the company's laptops, on average, are more expensive than Windows-based equivalents. Furthermore, given the long wait for a major MacBook Pro update, heightened interest is unsurprising.

Even so, the numbers are impressive; if accurate, they show that Apple's MacBook Pro basically swept the floor with all of its major competitors combined in less than a week.
