The latest version of macOS, dubbed Catalina, is out today, per Apple. It's a free software update just like it always is and roughly coincides with the recent releases of iOS 13 and the new iPadOS. As you'd expect, it brings a handful of big new features without fundamentally changing much about your day-to-day macOS routine.

Arguably the biggest addition is Apple Arcade for macOS. The subscription-based gaming service got pretty rave reviews when it launched on iOS last month, and the release of Catalina gives you another place to play those same games. If you would rather play What The Golf on something bigger than an iPhone screen, this is for you.

Beyond that, iTunes is finally dead. Music, Podcasts, and TV have been split into three desktop apps because the old iTunes app was overburdened and terrible to use. Trust us, this is a good thing.

Beyond that, macOS features new accessibility features including voice control. You can also use the new Sidecar addition to turn your iPad into a second monitor for your Mac, if that's something you would like to do.

All of those additions and more should be available to Mac users by the end of the day. Just remember to pour one out for iTunes.
