Everyone thinks the Magic Leap One headset is ugly as sin

Magic Leap's first mixed reality headset, the Leap One, is coming in early 2018. It looks pretty damn neat, assuming it delivers on everything it's promising — and as long as you can get over its weird design.

Reactions to the headset have been split down the middle with some people digging the steampunk-inspired design and others mocking its ugliness.

It's always difficult to judge a product before we've actually had a chance to try it in person, and the Leap One is no different.

Personally, I don't hate the design, and I'm less concerned about how it might look on my face because I'd probably be using it indoors, protected from public embarrassment and the judgement of my cooler and totally stylish friends.

While the portable "Lightpack" housing all the computer guts does mean you'll be able to wear the headset outside, how many people will really do that? Think about how many people you see using mobile VR headsets, like the Gear VR, at your local coffee shop or in the park. The answer's probably never or rarely.

Regardless, first impressions matter and the internet already brought the pitchforks out.

I realize there's only so much space to place all of the cameras and motion sensors on the headset, but like damn... people who have arachnophobia might have nightmares for days...

Which headset wore him better?

Few people have ever tried the headset. One AR fan decided to photoshop the Leap One onto his face to see how it would compare to his HoloLens headset. How do they look?
