When Malaysian artist and activist Fahmi Reza, first started making clown parodies of Malaysia's prime minister Najib Razak, little did he know people will start comparing him to renowned graffiti artist, Banksy.

According to AFP, Fahmi started posting clown caricatures of Razak back in January following the latter's repeated attempts at thwarting investigations into his corruption allegations.

Since then, Fahmi's images have gone viral, and many Malaysian netizens angered by the government's lack of action, have banded together to share versions of the now infamous clown imagery.

Despite having previously been arrested for activism and repeated warnings from Malaysian authorities to stop posting these images or face jail time, Fahmi vows not to stop pointing out the hypocrisies of the country's politics.

"They can jail a rebel, but they can't jail the rebellion," he told AFP.

With all the controversy surrounding Razak, Malaysian opposition leaders have now pushed out a "Save Malaysia" campaign to oust him as the country's premier.
