Malia Obama wisely attended Lollapalooza instead of Democratic convention

Bummer that she missed the balloons, though.

Malia Obama missed the Democratic convention on Thursday, but for good reason: she was checking out some artists who aren't Katy Perry.

The cool teen was spotted in the crowd of a Cashmere Cat show at Lollapalooza in Chicago, and it looks like she had at least an okay time.

Of course, the teens around her stopped filming Cashmere Cat and started filming her, which may have been a good decision depending on the quality of the concert.

The Secret Service was also in attendance, sporting plaid "summer dad" ensembles.

Meanwhile, no one really seemed to mind that Malia skipped out on Hillary Clinton's big night — they were just happy she got to be a normal teen for once.

No word yet on whether she'll be attending Friday night's Radiohead show.
