Malia Obama snags movie studio internship for next move
The Obamas may be stepping away from the political spotlight, but one of them is inching closer to Hollywood. Malia Obama will reportedly intern with The Weinstein Company after her family leaves the White House.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Obama begins her internship in February. She is scheduled to enroll in fall classes at Harvard University.
Obama will reportedly join Harvey Weinstein's New York office, though her exact role is not yet known.
In 2015, Obama interned on the set of HBO's Girls.
The Weinstein Company is a mainstay at major Hollywood awards shows, having produced Best Picture winners like The King's Speech in 2011 and The Artist in 2012. Co-founder Harvey Weinstein is a vocal supporter of the Democratic party and threw fundraisers for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.
