After his house caught fire during a neighborhood-wide blaze earlier this week, New Orleans writer Gideon Hodge sprinted back into a burning building to retrieve his laptop, which he said contained two completed, unpublished novels.

"Despite my better sense, I just ran inside and grabbed it. I didn’t think to be scared," Hodge told the New Orleans Advocate.

Luckily, he emerged from the building just a few moments after entry.

On Twitter, people are commending Hodge for his bravery — and recommending that everyone please back up their files so they do not risk engulfing themselves in flames.

A GoFundMe has also been set up to assist Hodge and his partner after the loss of their home.

According to the Associated Press, no injuries from the fire were reported. Several families lost all their possessions in the fire.
