Following the departure of its top executive Hugo Barra, the Chinese company Xiaomi is reshuffling some top positions within the company.

Manu Kumar Jain, who previously assumed the role of India Head at Xiaomi India, has been promoted to the role of Vice President of Xiaomi, a spokesperson for the company said today.

Jain, who joined Xiaomi in 2014, after leaving fashion ecommerce Jabong he co-founded and managed, has been the head of Xiaomi India since the company’s arrival in the country same year.

Kumar Jain will continue to spearhead Xiaomi’s India operations, the company said. "Manu will continues to spearhead all India operations and be involved with all individual functions within the country such as Sales, After Sales, Customer Support, Manufacturing etc," a spokesperson told Mashable India.

In his new role, however, Kumar Jain will work closely with Xiaomi’s Senior Vice President, Xiang Wang, who was formerly the Senior VP at Qualcomm China. Wang joined Xiaomi in 2015 as senior vice president of strategic cooperation. He now leads Xiaomi’s entire global efforts.

The reshuffling comes as Vice President of Xiaomi Hugo Barra left the company to join Facebook to lead the social juggernaut's virtual reality efforts.

Under the leadership of Barra, Xiaomi has expanded to markets outside of China, debuting in India, Indonesia, Singapore, and most recently the United States in the past three years.

In just two years of its arrival in India, Xiaomi has become the second largest smartphone vendor in the country. Under Manu Kumar Jain, the company announced last month that it had crossed $1 billion in revenue in the country in 2016.
