Star Wars began in 1977, but Luke Skywalker just got his star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

On Thursday Star Wars actor Mark Hamill's star on the Hollywood walk of fame was unveiled. The event was appropriately ceremonial, with stormtroopers in attendance.

George Lucas was there to give a speech.

As was Harrison Ford, who paid homage to the late Carrie Fisher.

Hamill got up to talk and expressed his gratitude.

True Hamill fans will be pleased to know that he signed off his speech with a signature Joker laugh. All hail the Clown Prince of Crime!

Finally it was time to unveil the star, and Hamill was delighted to see they got the spelling of his name right.

"From Jedi to Joker and back again," said Hamill, "it's been a fantastic ride."
