After exhausting every option, Jamie Harkin was finally able to meet his hero: Luke Skywalker.

Harkin has survived Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer twice, and made it one of his missions to meet some of his Star Wars heroes.

Harkin has also set up Jamie's Journie, a support network that aids sick teens and young people through their cancer diagnosis. And although he has beaten cancer twice, Harkin has fallen ill since January, and has been in and out of the hospital several times, the Derry Journal reports

After finding out that Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver were nearby filming for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VIII film in Ireland, Harkin started a campaign in an attempt to meet some of the cast.

Finally, on Monday, Harkin shared breakfast with Hamill.

"I'm definitely still in shock, I'm absolutely elated, incredibly humbled, honored and just completely overwhelmed," Harkin wrote on Facebook.

Hamill surprised the 17-year-old, which he describes in great detail in the Facebook post above.

Hamill stayed with the teen as well as some other kids for more than an hour and-a-half. Harkin says that the two discussed everything from old stories, to what he's been up to recently.

Along with Harkin and his father, they were also joined by Ciaran, who was diagnosed with Leukemia last year, Caolan, his older brother and their mother. Harkin explains that Jamie's Journie has been aiding their cancer journey for the last six months.

"I sat absolutely enthralled in his stories," Harkin wrote.

"He is one of the most charismatic, charming and down to earth people I have ever met," Harkin said about Hamill.

The star also signed a bunch of Star Wars swag for the kids before taking off, but his meeting left a lasting impression on Harkin.

"I still don't completely believe it yet. Ever since I was a kid, I've dreamt about Star Wars," Harkin said in an email to Mashable

"In short, today was a dream come true," Harkin said. "I can not put into words how incredible today was, so I would like to thank everyone who liked, shared, commented and who was involved for arranging this as I know how much of a logistical nightmare this must have been!"

Mashable has reached to to Harkin for more information, and we'll update this post when we hear back.
