No new 'Mass Effect' game this year, but check out the theme park ride
You can't play Mass Effect: New Earth, but you can live it.
Later this year, the California Great America theme park will launch a new attraction based on Electronic Arts' hit sci-fi RPG series. The "4D holographic journey" is a theater experience curated by a live performer.

The attraction plunges attendees into the Mass Effect universe, bringing them aboard Commander Shepard's iconic ship, the SSV Normandy. During the presentation, the Normandy flies off to a distant planet, where some form of hostile alien life awaits.
Based on what we see in the trailer, it looks like attendees will cross paths with the series' fearsome Reapers. Though -- as anyone familiar with the events of Mass Effect III probably noticed -- the attraction's "New Earth" subtitle suggests the ride is set after the events of the trilogy.
Mass Effect: New Earth is coming to Great America in Santa Clara, Calif. sometime during spring 2016.
