There have been many hashtag-based challenges that have swept social media over the years. The Harlem Shake. The Ice Bucket Challenge. That recent one where people hide behind a towel to confuse their dogs.

Well, forget all those for the time being, because there's a new trend in town. It's Matilda-themed, it involves magic and group participation, and it's endorsed by none other than Mara Wilson herself.

That's right -- the #MatildaChallenge is the latest trend to go viral. It basically involves recreating a famous scene from Matilda with the help of some hidden companions.

In case your memory of Matilda is a little hazy, the challenge is based on this scene from the film (skip forward to the 1:25 mark):

From the looks of it, the challenge has already spread far and wide. Wilson tweeted out a bunch of different examples in a thread on Monday.

There are examples of the challenge all over YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. This one, shared last Friday, has over 14,000 retweets.

Challenge accepted.
