It's been 30 years since the world met Roald Dahl's pint-sized heroine Matilda Wormwood, and she's marking three decades by defying yet another larger-than-life villain: President Donald Trump.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the October 1, 1988 publication of Dahl's book Matilda, a temporary statue of the youngster facing down a cartoonish Trump has been placed near Dahl's home in Buckinghamshire, England, per the Telegraph.

But how did the president of the United States come to be the new nemesis of a young British schoolgirl? In a survey conducted by The Roald Dahl Story Company, when asked who Matilda's modern day nemesis would be, Trump was chosen as the villain by 42 percent of respondents.

According to The Telegraph, two other popular opponents for Matilda were UK Prime Minister Theresa May (21 percent) and talking marshmallow/TV personality Piers Morgan (16 percent).

In a statement to the BBC, Roald Dahl Story Company president Bernie Hall said, "Matilda demonstrates that it's possible for anyone, no matter how small and powerless they feel, to defeat the Trunchbulls [the headmistress villain of the original novel] in their own lives - a message that feels even more relevant today than it did 30 years ago."

As an added bonus for Matilda fans, Sir Quentin Blake, the celebrated illustrator who provided drawings for the original publication, made some new drawings of Matilda imagining what the character might be up to today.

Trump has yet to respond to the statue, but it wouldn't be a shock if he trashed it all in a tweet at some point.
