Matt Foley, baseball player, pays homage to SNL's Matt Foley
We just found our favorite minor league baseball player. Never mind that we've never even seen him field a grounder or swing a bat.
But first, we must set the stage.
If the name "Matt Foley" rings a bell, that's because of arguably the greatest Saturday Night Live sketch of all time.
Surely, you recall this bit, in which Chris Farley (RIP) plays a "motivational speaker" named Matt Foley who lives in a van down by the river. (In case you don't remember, highlights from the bit are embedded atop this post and you can watch the full thing on NBC's website.)
So that's the deal with that Matt Foley. But we're here today to talk about Matt Foley the baseball player. He's a catcher in the Atlanta Braves' minor league system, but other that we don't know too much about him. So why are we so enamored?
Simply sharing a name with a fictional character normally wouldn't be enough to get us so pumped up. But -- well, just look at the bottom of his bat, which features the SNL Matt Foley in a Braves hat.

Amazing. Slow clap. Speechless. Insert more superlatives at your leisure.
He even has a shirt!
We're rooting for you to make the bigs, bud -- it'd certainly beat living in a van down by the river.
