Twitter became (hilarious) John McCain body language experts before the healthcare vote

Cheers to the absurdity of hundreds of thousands of people being forced to stay up and speculate about whether their Senator's rapid blinking means they'll lose their healthcare.

Ah, the ol' "will he/won't he [leave millions uninsured]."

Before the late-night failure of the "Skinny repeal" of Obamacare on July 27, political Twitter, desperate for signs of how the close vote would go, became borderline obsessive about watching Senator John McCain's body language on C-SPAN.

Since McCain's vote was unknown (rather than give a hint, he told Politico to "watch the show" before heading into the chamber), the fate of millions of peoples' healthcare became a nail-biter season finale on a bad show.

Journalists and regular viewers became McCain body language experts, watching the Republican Senator's every move, smile, blink, and nose scratch.

Chalk it up to the drawn-out vote, late-night delirium and the absurdity of hundreds of thousands of people being forced to stay up and speculate about whether their representatives will vote to drastically change their lives twice a week, but body language tweets soon became very weird and very, very funny.

Nihilistic, delirious Twitter is the best Twitter in 2017.
