Pikachu tastes like chocolate and bananas, apparently
The people of Japan have spoken and they want Pikachu-flavored McFlurries from McDonald's. Mmm Pikachu.
McDonald's Japan ran a contest that ended yesterday for people to vote on which Pokémon-inspired McFlurry they'd like to see at McDonald's next week in celebration of Pokémon's 20th anniversary. Japanese news site Entabe announced that the winner is Pikachu, with a chocolate-covered banana flavored McFlurry.
It's really no surprise this flavor won considering the other options, as seen in this gif:

The Charmander flavor is habanero, the Squirtle flavor is a lemon-limey kind of Japanese soda called Ramune, the Jigglypuff flavor is white peach, the Bulbasaur flavor is broccoli (why?), and the Gengar flavor is purple yam, also known as ube, which is allegedly very tasty (especially in ice cream form). (Editor's note: if you have not enjoyed the multitude of ube-blessed desserts out there, you must immediately change this about your life. No ube dessert should go untouched, and the people of Japan are remiss to not have picked Gengar. Damn Pikachu's popularity.)
Sure, some of those other flavors are fun and unique, but we're pretty sure McDonald's Japan had shipments of the Pikachu flavor ready to roll out before the voting even started. Not only is Pikachu the most iconic Pokémon, it has the most universally acceptable flavor.
When the new McFlurry flavor comes out in select McDonald's locations in Japan on July 14, it will come in one of six different containers, each with a different Pikachu expression.
It's exactly how we always imagined ground up and chilled Pikachus would taste.
