Teen ordered a McDonald's burger, hold the bun, patty and toppings, and it still cost her a dollar

Technology is surely revolutionizing the fast food industry.

None Pizza, Left Beef, meet your McDonald’s rival.

A teen who goes by Ari on Twitter was out to get lunch with a friend this week when she noticed that the food-ordering kiosk at her UK McDonald's franchise has an unusual quirk.

Like with any order, customers can choose to remove onions, ketchup, mustard, pickles, and cheese. But weirdly enough, removing the bun and the beef patty are also options. She did what any curious teen might do and placed an order for...nothing.

"I tried it and paid for it to see what would come out, and this poor cashier calls me over five minutes later to ask me what I meant by my order," Ari told Mashable via Twitter DM.

After inquiring, the cashier presented Ari with her order: an empty bag.

Though she placed an order for, essentially, nothing, the meal -- if you can call it that -- still cost Ari £0.99 (or about $1.27).

We've reached out to McDonald's to see if this quirk is a franchise-wide option, or if this is a glitch unique to the kiosk's location. We'll update should we hear back.
