The 68-year-old, whose legal name is Michael Lee Aday, can be seen in video falling to the floor during a performance of his hit song "I'd Do Anything For Love" at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium.

Music faded to silence as band members rushed to Meat Loaf's side, as some members of the crowd can be heard shouting messages of support towards stage.

"People were trying to cheer him on yelling 'Come on Meat Loaf' but the atmosphere became 'no you shouldn't be doing that right now, this is something serious," crowd member Jamie Carriere told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Edmonton police confirmed to the broadcaster  that they responded to a medical call, while Alberta Health Service confirmed that they had transported a patient from the Jubilee to a hospital in Edmonton. Details on his condition are not available as yet.

Meat Loaf has been touring Canada since May, with dates throughout eastern and central parts of the country all up until July. He had previously postponed shows in Moose Jaw and Calgary earlier in the week due to unspecified illness.
