Melbourne, Australia. It's the land of hipsters, perpetual rain, ironic murals and blue coffee, and now, its residents have (even more of) a reason to gloat. Their fair city has just been named the world's most liveable according to The Economist Intelligence Unit. For the sixth. Year. Running.

How nice. Except there's one problem. Melbourne locals love bitching about Melbourne, and today's announcement was not going to stop them, least of all because their arch nemesis city, Sydney, was toppled out of the top ten.

Just look at all this cynicism. It’s all so very #Melbourne.

But not without good reason. Take this crime against nature. Intolerable.

Plus, there are actual social issues facing the city.

As one commentator put it, "any true assessment of Melbourne needs to be a tale of two cities – one where infrastructure and services are abundant but housing affordability is appalling, and another where housing is more accessible but services and infrastructure are not."

Guess you can't please everyone.
