In a shocking development, it appears that Brad Pitt's A-List DNA is not actually one of the earth's most valuable natural resources. Well, at least not according to Melissa Etheridge.

The singer revealed on Australian talk show Studio 10 that Pitt was almost the sperm donor for her two children with then-partner Julie Cypher in the 90s, but didn't make the final cut.

Etheridge explained that her pal Pitt was totally down, but she felt uncomfortable with the prospect of Pitt as a biological dad to her kids since he clearly wanted a family of his own.

“And yet, I looked and I saw how badly he wanted children and I thought, ‘I don’t want to share this with someone who really, badly wants children because my children don’t need another parent — they have two.'”

The couple ultimately selected David Crosby, who was never People's sexiest man alive, but whose DNA could help create an Etherige musical dynasty. And, more importantly, Crosby and his wife already had kids of their own to worry about.

“Of course, my teenagers now are like, ‘I could have had Brad Pitt (as my dad)!’ My son said," Etheridge told Studio 10. "‘I could’ve been amazingly handsome!’" But Etheridge maintains that her children turned out perfectly.

Did Brad Pitt ever end up having kids of his own? The world may never know.
