Melissa McCarthy just won an Emmy for playing Sean Spicer, which seems right

Sean Spicer's tenure in the White House may have ended, but we'll have Melissa McCarthy's impressions of him forever. At Sunday's Creative Arts Awards for the 2017 Emmys, McCarthy took home the statue for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for hosting Saturday Night Live Season 42.

Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series was also an SNL victory, for Dave Chappelle's post-election hosting gig. Both actors were part of multiple sketches in their guest roles, but each had a zeitgeist-y standout moment: Chappelle's monologue and McCarthy's repeated appearances as Spicer were not only high points for the show, but became inextricably linked to Trump's leadership and how Americans respond to it.

The Creative Arts Emmys took place Sunday in Los Angeles. The main Emmy broadcast will air Sunday, Sept. 17 on CBS.
