Mermaid toast is very pretty to look at, but it's no fad... yet

Toast isn't something that inspires much excitement, but adding colour seems like a sure way to make it more photogenic.

Add the word mermaid, and you might just set off some kind of trend. Too late if you thought of mermaid toast just then, because it's a foodstuff that's already getting plenty of love on Instagram.

And hell, it's not hard to see why. Buttered with swathes of blue-green algae powders and almond milk cream cheese, it's like looking at an excerpt painted canvas up close.
