Betsy Ross would probably dig Meryl Streep's Democratic convention dress

Actions speak louder than words, and enormous American flag dresses speak louder than pretty much anything.

When Meryl Streep came to speak at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night, she did it in the most Streep-esque way possible: with an enormous American flag dress. Streep has donned the dress in public before, but it made an extra special splash during a sometimes sleepy night at the DNC.

Just look at the glorious thing.

Those wishing to imitate Streep's style are sadly out of luck, as the $425 dress is already sold out on Shopbop. Interested customers and Meryl obsessives will sadly have to wait until the festive silk-chiffon dress "bursting" with Stars 'n Stripes is next available.

The dress even comes with a removable skinny belt and long blouson sleeves, which sounds profoundly fancy.

On Twitter, reactions were mixed to euphoric. Meryl will always have her dissenters, but her defenders will always speak louder and better.

These colors don't bleed (unless you wash them on hot, in which case, use caution).
