All the people who dressed like robots at the Met Gala

They took space grey really literally.

How do you get celebs to do the robot? Plan a Met Gala with a theme closely tied to technology.

Celebrities marched the red carpet on Monday night at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, in looks that screamed a pretty cliché idea of technology: silver, a.k.a. robots, a.k.a MacBooks.

Good enough, right? When all else fails and you can't think of anything better, just default to something that screams futuristic: space grey.

The event's theme, Manus X Machina, explores the relationship of fashion and tech, specifically how they can work together for the future. The related costume exhibit opens May 5 at the museum. 

Many of the silvery looks are beautiful, but so many similar looks begs the question: Can we think bigger? After all, that's what tech is all about.
