WhatsApp may finally get a native iPad app. Here's how we know.
WhatsApp is finally coming to the big screen—if the leaks are to be believed.
As reported by WABetaInfo, Meta is apparently testing a compatible beta version of WhatsApp for the iPad based on the app's current TestFlight program code. It's not only a nice treat for the messaging services' beta testers but for anyone who's been annoyed about Meta's lack of compatible app support for the iPad.
This is, however, not the first time Meta has beta-tested WhatsApp for the iPad. Back in 2021, there were reports of Meta testing its platform on iPadOS, and obviously, that didn't fully come to fruition—although it's unclear whether or not that version ever made it to TestFlight.

If the rumors are true, this means Meta sees significant value in bringing WhatsApp to the platform, which runs counter to what Meta officials have previously said. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said in February that the company had no plans on bringing that service to iPad as the demand "wasn't big enough."
The great news for customers is the WhatsApp experience has gotten significantly better in recent months. With the addition of Channels, the platform now allows users to send videos in HD, the native Mac app allows for better group calling and the EU basically forced Meta to make WhatsApp a cross-messaging service with iMessage. It's a good time to be a WhatsApp user at the moment and an even better time for tablet enthusiasts.
