Mother of slain black teen Michael Brown endorses Hillary Clinton
The mother of Michael Brown, the unarmed black teenager shot and killed in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014, endorsed Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, saying Clinton has the most "realistic" solutions to the problems in America.
The endorsement comes the day of the Missouri primary, where Clinton is locked in a tight battle with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. The Clinton campaign hopes endorsements like this one help Clinton maintain the wide lead she saw among African-American voters throughout the South.
"This election season, we are at battle for the soul of our nation," Lezley McSpadden said in her endorsement, according to the Washington Post. "If we want to continue to build on the progress made by our country, we need a president who is ready to lead — and I trust Hillary Clinton."

In February, ahead of the South Carolina primary, the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Jordan Davis and Dontre Martin — all of whom were killed by police brutality or gun violence — traveled the state to boost Clinton's candidacy.
They also filmed an ad for Clinton, which has been running in primary states to help Clinton's bid.
Ahead of the Illinois primary on Tuesday, where Sanders has cut into Clinton's once wide lead, Clinton also visited a memorial to children lost to gun violence.

Clinton currently holds a wide lead in delegates — which ultimately determine the Democratic presidential nominee.
But Sanders hopes wins in states like Missouri on Tuesday can help him cut into that lead and ultimately overtake Clinton for the nomination.
