Why Michael Jordan didn't attend North Carolina's national championship win
North Carolina legend Michael Jordan was savaged with crying Jordan memes after the Tar Heels lost the 2016 national title game on a heart-breaking buzzer-beater with him in the stands.
On Monday night, North Carolina got sweet redemption by winning the 2017 national title over Gonzaga. This time around, Jordan was not in attendance -- but it's not because he was scared of getting another meme treatment.
"He’s superstitious like I am," North Carolina coach Roy Williams told USA Today Sports of Jordan's absence after cutting down the nets on Monday night. "He came last year, and we lost."
Then he didn't come this year, and they won.
See? Further proof that MJ always knows best.
So maybe we should put our snark aside and listen when he says "the ceiling is the roof."
There's meaning there somewhere. It's up to us to unlock it, folks.
