This photo of Michael Shannon singing Iggy Pop is the rare Good Thing
Your weird celebrity crush Michael Shannon skipped the Golden Globe Awards Sunday to perform with Sons of the Silent Age for a David Bowie tribute concert. At least one Very Important photo from this concert has surfaced and shows Shannon going all-out as a shirtless Iggy Pop.
Iggy Pop and David Bowie performed together in Berlin in the late '70s, the era Sons of the Silent Age focused on for this concert. The two reportedly became close friends after Bowie visited a hospitalized Iggy – they even got arrested together in 1976, the mark of true friendship. Bowie was a writer and producer on The Idiot and Lust for Life, whose title track Shannon performed Sunday night.

Shannon has a musical background including writing and performing for the band Corporal. His commitment to the Iggy Pop persona has some serious Rami-Malek-as-Freddie-Mercury vibes, to file under the category of actors-as-music-icons that we didn't know we needed.
