Michelle Pfeiffer gets asked baffling sexist question at 'Scarface' event

When the Scarface cast and director reunited at 2018's Tribeca Film Festival, they probably thought a lot about how far Hollywood has come since the 1983 film. And yet, during a Q&A following the film screening, actress Michelle Pfeiffer was asked – you guessed it – about her weight.

Moderator Jesse Kornbluth (father to a daughter, he noted) wanted to know what Pfeiffer weighed in the film and how she thinned down to play Elvira. His question was met with boos from the audience and at least one "Seriously?" uttered aloud.

Pfeiffer may have been nonplussed but answered the question, talking about Elvira's physicality and cocaine addiction which necessitated staying below a certain weight.

“I literally had members of the crew bringing me bagels because they were all worried about me and how thin I was getting [by the end of the shoot]," she said. "I think I was living on tomato soup and Marlboros.”

Kornbluth followed up by asking Pfeiffer what she ate after filming ended, and apparently one other question before the event concluded.
